Some things I need to say to the creators of my favorite game series.

First.
This is a game. I have no problem whatsoever with there being dark, hopeless, philosophical, deep, or any other type of endings included. But they should not be the only option. If you can have those things, I can have happy, hopeful, fulfilling, victorious endings as well. There is nothing wrong or stupid or inferior about wanting a happy ending.
I am not ashamed to say all I want is an ending where Shepard lives, we win, and I get to live happily ever after with my chosen LI(if they're not Thane or something).
I will not accept that bleak endings are the only legitimate option.

Second.
This may vary, but for myself the Mass Effect series has always been about hope. Shepard speaks of nothing but "we can do this together" or for renegades "we will do this no matter the cost". Both of these speak of victory, yet ME3 offers none. No matter which color you pick to end the game with, Shepard lost. There is nothing hopeful about everyone being cut off from the rest of the galaxy, Shepard being usually dead, and if not dead stranded, and potentially even the Reapers coming back later. That's not hope, and it is completely out of place in the universe. I can't accept these as the only endings presented.

Third.
The final segment destroys Shepard as a character. Through the whole series he/she has been a beacon of defiance. Fighting the odds and always coming out on top. Even for people who lost some squadies in ME2 or even failed the suicide mission, the game allowed for complete success. Shepard could completely win. He would certainly always try for it. Yet in the end of ME3 this god machine says "give up and die" and Shepard does so without question. That was not Shepard. I know you can write Shepard amazingly, please write a little more so we can see him/her finish the series in a blaze of glory.

Fourth.
I need to make clear through all my ranting that ME3 is a GOOD GAME. Even a great one. It has moments so moving, so epic, so memorable, it is a masterpiece except for the endings. That is all I want to communicate. I'm not trying to say Bioware sucks, I'm not trying to say the game sucks. I'm trying to say I love the game and want to be able to enjoy all of it, including the ending. The current endings do not need to go away, we just need to add more where Shepard can win, live, and be happy.

Fifth.
Asking for a happy endings DLC is very reasonable and doable.  DLC is already planned, this has been stated. The only voices needed would be Hale, Meer, and whoever voiced the god machine. 3 people. The rest of the ending(s) can be shown in a music only epilogue using music already written. That's super small compared to DLC like the Shadow Broker. You want to sell me DLC. I'm saying this is the DLC I want to buy. WANT. I want you to make me something so I can pay you for it and enjoy it! I want to give you my business! I want to love your product all the way through!

Bioware, you have been so amazing and tried so hard for us. Just keep trying a little bit longer. We can all be happy and have grown together as a community of mutually respectful and caring creators and fans.
